Goldenrod, also known as blue mountain tea, is commonly used as a winter pick me up in Appalachia. It is also used to assist the kidneys, and our kidneys are akin to being our systems' emotional shock absorbers. Goldenrod's diuretic activity helps to cleanse the kidneys. Solidago (Goldenrod's latin name) means "to make whole". Renowned herbalist Jim McDonald states that Goldenrod is the equivalent of Arnica in our region and can be used in the same manner.
